ONCE I WAS AFRAID, I WAS PETRIFIED,
KEPT THINKING I COULD NEVER DEAL
WITH COMMENTS DOWN THE SIDE...
Oh yes you can. You have in front of you all these pages with loads of markings. (It might make you remember school?) But this time, you're in charge: these markings are not going to stay for ever. It's just a stage, as our parents used to say about most things. The thing is, you now have control. You have the power to accept or reject any of it - in fact, you have to!
Go into Review along the top ribbon, and choose All Markup.
WHAT AM I SEEING HERE?
Teal-coloured deletions and red insertions. More on colours in a mo.
Look at each change in turn. If you don't want to go with an insertion I've made, click on it; then in the Changes pane just to the right of the Tracking pane, click Reject Change. (Also, reject my teal-coloured deletion just before it.)
If you adore what I've done, then do nothing yet.
And if in doubt, do nowt, as my aunt used to say.
IF I REALLY DON'T LIKE THE COLOURS?
Change them! Click on the tiny diagonal arrow at the bottom of the pane, go to Advanced Options, and choose for yourself from the dropdown menus.
ALL THIS POWER - WHAT DO I DO WITH IT?
Finalise it. In that Changes pane, click Accept All Changes. That's it!
I said you have the power.
I can cope.
MY RIGHT-HAND MAN
All those comments in the bubbles on the right: answer my queries if you want, and send the document back to me. Or delete the comments (right-click) and make what changes you want in the text itself.
I GREW STRONG,
AND I LEARNED HOW TO GET ALONG!
