HOW DOES IT WORK?
If your work is a Word document, we have Track Changes; if a PDF, the commenting tools.
First you send me a short sample of your work, from the middle of the piece so that it's typical of the whole. I happily do a 2–300-word free sample proofread on this extract, and return it to you with my quote for the work and my terms and conditions (T&Cs).
After you accept, things go quiet while I work on your document, since I may not need to ask you any questions about it.
Then you have back your proofread document with suggestions and queries for you to deal with in your own time. At the end, I may ask you for a favour: a short review that I can then use elsewhere.
DO YOU WANT AN IDEA OF PRICE?
Of course you do. For all my proofreading, my price ranges from £18 to £22 per 1,000 words. The lower end is for material that needs fewer changes; the higher end is when your text needs more intervention.
So your annual report of 5,000 words comes in at £90–110. For your thesis of 70,000 words, you can expect to pay £1,260–1,540. I ask you to pay 50% up front, by online bank transfer. When we decide that the project is complete, you pay the balance within seven days of the invoice date.
